The Armistice clearing and its famous wagon
The clearing of the Armistice is located in the forest of Compiègne, a few kilometers from Rethondes. This is the place where the armistice of the First World War was signed in 1918. You can visit the wagon in which the armistice was signed, as well as the museum of the Great War.
Stroll through the remarkable village of Saint-Jean-aux-Bois
Are you more into outdoor walks than historical outings? On foot, by bike or even on horseback, discover the national forests of Compiègne and Laigue, or wander around the small villages like Saint Jean-aux-Bois (and its 12th century abbey church). You are off for a breath of fresh air!
